Jack, who serves as Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Directors, is a 1985 graduate of Mississippi College where he earned a BA Degree in Political Science.
He is also a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he served honorably on active duty and in the Navy Reserves for a total of eight years. His professional background includes having served as a Radio Talk Show Host, Television Commentator and as an Advertising Sales Executive.
In the public sector, he also has the unique honor of being appointed to serve in the gubernatorial administrations of four Governors in two states.
He is now the CEO of 356 West Group, Managing Partner of DBS Public Affairs Group and a Partner with VSTG, LLC., which is a licensed online gaming operator based in Virginia.
Jack resides in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Thelma Howard is a Mississippi Delta native and a proud graduate of Yazoo City High School in Yazoo City, Miss.
Thelma received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Mississippi Valley State University.
Currently, Thelma is retired after serving the State of Texas for 30 years. She is one of the founding board members of the Clarence & Mary Lee Howard Foundation and she serves as the treasurer.
Thelma is an active member of her church, and she is a people person, who adapts well to change. Thelma believes that if she can help change and make an impact on just one person before she leaves this earth, she has made a difference.
Debra Berry, a distinguished professional in the hotel hospitality industry with over 30 years of experience, serves as a proud founding board member and secretary of the Clarence & Mary Lee Howard Foundation. She holds a degree in Hospitality from Norfolk State University and she is passionate about meeting new people and bringing joy to their lives.
Currently residing in Virginia Beach, VA, Debra is deeply involved in her church and community. She is spearheading a project for the Clarence & Mary Lee Howard Foundation in honor of her late brother Ben, who lost his battle with cancer. This project includes organizing a commemorative walk in their hometown annually.
Debra is known for her wholehearted love and affection, often expressing her care through smiles and hugs. She cherishes family time and enjoys organizing family events. Her dedication to the foundation’s mission of giving back to those in need and honoring her parents’ legacy is unwavering.
Clem is a proud graduate of Yazoo City High School – Yazoo City, Miss.
She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Mississippi Valley State University, a HBCU located in the Mississippi Delta, and she received her Master’s Degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, Illinois.
Clem is one of the founding board members of the Clarence & Mary Lee Howard Foundation and she currently serves as the Executive Director of the foundation.
Clem currently resides in San Francisco, CA. Before moving to San Francisco, Clem resided in Austin, TX. where she left an undeniable footprint, as a ‘change agent/difference maker.’
Clem was awarded the Texas Governor’s Award for Volunteer Service for the entire State of TX for her outstanding volunteer work, her passion for giving back and the profound lasting impact she had on the lives of hundreds of youths throughout the State of Texas.
Christine Howard, an Educator, mother of four and cancer survivor, is the daughter of Clarence and Mary Lee Howard. She currently resides in the Mississippi Delta.
Christine received a Bachelor of Science degree from Thee Jackson State University, and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching from Belhaven University.
Christine is a member of Word of Faith Christian Center. As a founding member of The Clarence & Mary Lee Howard Foundation, her focus is to uplift and empower youth in the Mississippi Delta through community engagement and outreach.
Her daily walk is a testament of faith. She often quotes Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Dr. Damika Howard-Wayne is a dedicated educator who’s committed to helping students achieve success in and beyond their academic journey. Her mantra, “No Condition is Permanent!”.
Dr. Howard-Wayne is active in her community and church. As a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc, she is deeply involved in empowering individuals to succeed. Outside of her professional and community commitments, she cherishes her role as a mother, wife and cheer coach.
Her profound faith drives her dedication to community service, guided by the belief, “You cannot do kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will be too late.” Daily, she walks in her divine purpose, humbly embracing her role as a servant leader, empowering others to reach their highest potential to fulfill their divine destiny, that is why she serves as a founding board member of the foundation that is named in her grandparents honor.
Darius Howard, a Yazoo Native, is the son of Christine Howard and grandson of Clarence and Mary Lee Howard.
Darius was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Biology from The University of Southern Mississippi, a Master from Belhaven University, and is pursuing a Doctoral Degree at Belhaven University.
As one of Yazoo City’s Top 40 Under 40, Darius thrives to serve in his community. As a founding board member of The Clarence & Mary Lee Howard Foundation, Darius pledges to uphold the mission: “Giving Back to Give Hope.”
AJ is a great-grandchild of Clarence and Mary Lee Howard and serves as a proud board member of the Clarence & Mary Lee Howard Foundation.
AJ received his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Exercise & Sports Science from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He also received his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from The University of Georgia in 2024. AJ is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Now residing in Atlanta, GA, AJ is a dedicated sales professional who brings his passion for serving others to the foundation’s mission of giving back to give hope. Inspired by his family’s legacy, AJ embraces the opportunity to make a lasting impact, driven by a deep commitment to honoring and advancing the values instilled by Clarence and Mary Lee Howard.
Timothy Howard is a proud college graduate from The University of Southern Mississippi. He is an Army veteran, and a dedicated leader with over 15 years of experience driving impactful projects and building high-performing teams.
Known for his strategic thinking and ability to inspire those around him, Timothy has a proven track record of delivering results, while fostering growth and collaboration.
Timothy’s work is fueled by a deep commitment to service and making a difference. Whether mentoring others or finding innovative solutions to complex challenges, he approaches every endeavor with determination and purpose.

Edd Peyton is an Of Counsel attorney with Spicer Rudstrom in the Memphis office. He focuses on litigation throughout Tennessee and Mississippi. He is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science.
Upon graduation from Annapolis, Edd was commissioned as an officer in the United States Navy where he led engineering and ordnance departments aboard ships, served as a regional admissions officer for the Naval Academy, and as a staff officer on several fleet staffs. Before leaving active duty service, Edd completed the Master of Business Administration degree at Jacksonville University. He retired as a Commander.
After his navy service, Edd worked in warehouse operations and systems management for a national whole foods distributor in Saint Augustine, Florida before pursuing a law degree at the University of Mississippi School of Law. At Ole Miss, Edd served on the Moot Court Board and won numerous mock trial and appellate competitions.
At Spicer Rudstrom, Edd primarily practices in the areas of employment law, healthcare liability, insurance defense litigation, and product liability. Edd previously served on the Board of Directors of the Memphis Bar Association and is a past president of the Ben F. Jones Affiliate Chapter of the National Bar Association in Memophis, Tennessee. He is a graduate of Leadership Memphis and Leadership Mississippi.
He and his lovely wife Kara have two sons, Naamon and Noah.
